All About Heat Logs So you have this great new fuel....what do you do with it? How do you get the best out of it? Here are a few tips... Heat Logs, if used correctly, will completely replace coal. So much cleaner. No matter how carefully you use coal, it always makes a mess! Heat Logs (especially Stumpeys) can replace coal. We find that the best way to light heat logs is to place them on an established fire or on your bed of kindling when you are lighting. Heat Logs burn with a beautiful high flame which is lovely and very aesthetically pleasing, but they don't put out their maximum heat when they are flaming like this. The way to get a lot of heat out of heat logs is to let the flame die down (this will take a good while, even as long as half an hour) and allow the heat logs to "glow" almost like coal. Then place dry fuel on top - this can be either a log (a real log) or more heat logs. We recommend that you start with a base of small heat logs such as Stumpeys for your coal like glow and then place a large heat log such as a Chubbey on top as your log. A real log also burns beautifully on top of a glowing base of heat logs. As demonstrated below....

| Heat Logs burn hotter than wood but not quite as hot as coal (in reality, you will not notice much difference!). They do not crackle and spit - so your carpet is protected! AND they don't leave much ash at all. Believe me, you will be very surprised at how little ash is left after a "Pure Heat Log" burn!! You have to get used to them, but then you will be a convert. Wood briquettes are the way forward. For those of you that are concerned about the ecological implications of our heat logs you can be assured that the Heat Logs supplied from us are made from UK sourced waste wood, so there is no wasting of our precious resources.
