I've been trying various "heat logs" for just over a year as the local cost of good quality seasoned wood has gone up and up, as has coal. We've had really varied results and, if I'm honest, I was resigned to going back to logs which weren't really doing the job, or needed an extra year. With restricted storage areas at the house that was not a great prospect.
I came across "heated by
wood" by chance and thought, go on then one last go.
As a company I can not
fault them. They gave me good up to date information about
deliveries, in an honest and open way.
When it arrived I decided
to run our multi-fuel Yeoman stove for 24 hours, or try to, and
see what would happen.
I thought a further test
would be to run it for most of that with just the "Stumpey" or "Chubbey"
heat logs.
Lighting them like coal,
with a good bed of newspaper and kindling I was surprised how
quickly the "Stumpey's" lit. Once the flame had died down I
reduced the air vents to a minimum and waited a couple of hours,
then introduced a "Chubbey".
The results... after a bit
of playing the stove ran successfully for 36 hours without
relighting! Used 3/4 a bag of "Stumpey's", 1.5 cartons of "Chubbey's",
and the lounge was toasty even in the morning.
The Chubbey in particular
is an amazing log, which goes well in a mixed wood and heat log
environment, leaves minimal ash, and will stay hot overnight.
After the initial order,
another order will be following. Best "Heat Log" I have ever
tried by a country mile!
